Tructyre's Commitment to Safety Shines with Prestigious RoSPA Gold Award
Our commitment to health and safety has seen us improve on our RoSPA Silver award win 2020 to now win the Gold award in 2021. De-risking Britain’s fleets by looking after the tyres of thousands of commercial trucks and trailers has its dangers, and to achieve the highest UK health and safety standard is something of which we are extremely proud.
Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants try to achieve the highest possible accolade in the UK’s longest-running Health and Safety industry awards.
The Gold award demonstrates Tructyre’s robust health and safety policies, risk assessments, procedures, training, health and safety competent persons, environmental policies and procedures, internal audits, and communications.
For example, inflating truck, bus, trailer, or coach tyres may seem like a fairly routine thing to do. But the everyday nature of the activity disguises the harm that can be done by a large tyre if it fails.
Commercial tyres have large air cavities, and the pressure is very high. The combination of large air volume with the high tyre pressure required to support the load of a heavy vehicle presents a significant risk. If a fully inflated truck tyre fails it can explode. And a tyre exploding, especially a large tyre fitted to a truck, is always dangerous.
That’s why Tructyre has safe working practices to cover every aspect of the work our tyre fitters carry out and dynamic risk assessments when we are responding to a puncture or other emergency. They're called Life Saving Rules.
The award demonstrates that Tructyre is united on safety, and adopting these rules in our everyday work ensures the safety of our employees, our customers, other road users and the wider public.
